Crispy Turkey & Avocado Tostadas with Pickled Onion, Chayote & Crema

- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp chili powder
- salt
- 1 small red onion
- ½ cup vinegar
- ½ cup water
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 large chayote
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- salt
- 8 pieces tostada shells
- 2 medium avocado
- ½ cup sour cream
- ½ cup cilantro
How to Make It
- 1In a bowl, combine vinegar, water, sugar, and salt.
- 2Add sliced red onion and let pickle for at least 15 minutes.
- 3Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- 4Add ground turkey and cook until browned.
- 5Add garlic, cumin, chili powder, and salt.
- 6Cook for 2–3 minutes until fragrant.
- 7In a bowl, toss chayote with lime juice and salt to create a light slaw.
- 8Spread a layer of turkey onto each tostada shell.
- 9Top with sliced avocado and chayote slaw.
- 10Add pickled onions and drizzle with sour cream.
- 11Garnish with cilantro and serve immediately.
