Grilled Sirloin Skewers with Blistered Shishito Peppers

  • 1 ½ lb sirloin steak
  • 8 oz shishito peppers
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • sesame seeds
  • 2 stalks green onions

How to Make It

  1. 1If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 15 minutes.
  2. 2In a bowl, mix soy sauce, garlic, ginger, brown sugar, and sesame oil to create the marinade.
  3. 3Add steak cubes to the marinade and toss to coat.
  4. 4Let marinate for 15–30 minutes.
  5. 5Thread steak and shishito peppers alternately onto skewers.
  6. 6Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
  7. 7Lightly brush skewers with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
  8. 8Grill skewers for 8–12 minutes, turning occasionally, until steak reaches desired doneness and peppers are blistered.
  9. 9Remove from heat and let rest briefly before serving.
  10. 10Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
